Jenny McNees, MSW, LICSW graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1998 and obtained a master's in social work degree in 2004 from Alabama A&M University. She has worked in a community mental health setting, helping children, adolescents, and adults with mental health and adjustment issues. She also has experience in medical social work, helping adults with chronic illness deal with coping and quality of life issues.
Jenny uses an integrative therapeutic approach to meet the needs of individuals and families. She utilizes cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, client-centered, and strengths-based techniques with an emphasis on mindfulness. She is certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and works with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, anger management issues, life transitions, ADHD, ASD, stress, self-esteem issues, divorce recovery, grief, and chronic illness/quality of life issues.
A certified nature therapy guide, Jenny offers walk and talk therapy as an option for some clients. She is a trauma-informed therapist as well and works with individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community. Jenny's free time is spent participating in outdoor activities, such as hiking, caving, or kayaking. She also loves doing anything with her husband and two adult children and gets them outdoors with her as much as possible.
