Anna Akin, LICSW

Counselor/Therapist

Anna Akin is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years in the Social Service field. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Auburn University in 2004 and her Master of Social Work from the University of Alabama in 2007. She has worked in several areas of community mental health, child and family welfare, addiction and substance misuse and advocacy for individuals and groups dealing with physical and intellectual disabilities. She has over 16 years' experience utilizing cognitive behavioral techniques to assist individuals and their families dealing with chronic illness to successfully cope with grief and loss, depression and anxiety while continuing to live life to the fullest. She has seen first-hand the benefits of treating clients in a compassionate and holistic setting, with a focus on empowerment and strengths-based strategies. Anna provides a neurodiversity affirming approach with clients to help meet individual goals and increase quality of life. Her approach is warm and inclusive, with a strong belief that a positive therapeutic relationship can bring change and increase quality of life for everyone seeking it.

Anna is often found on a trail hiking, chopping wood, camping, or kayaking with her family and dogs. Her indoor hobbies include reading, writing, putting together puzzles and cooking by candlelight.
